my real question is, does anyone buy the advanced WIFI modem outright? is this worthwhile, pros, cons **from your personal experience**, not hypothetical ones, as i'm well aware of the possibilities.
thanks
They were on sale at Best Buy last week. A friend of mine picked one up to replace a moody rented CGN2. My CGN3 is rented, though I admit that I have been rethinking that...
The key question is whether something new and better will come out in 14 months. Given Cisco/Arris (two important competitors in this area) didn't have a 24-channel product (or anything with more than 8-channels) on their web site when I looked a few weeks ago, and I think everyone has given up hope of Rogers offering a non-gateway modem, I doubt it... but then again, given how controversial the CGN3 is (and how apparently the bridge mode didn't even work right until a recent firmware upgrade), there's something scary about buying one.
