Re: Letting a second router through the SMCD3GN

Datalink, I don't want to use the 891 as a switch, I want to use it as a router.  With its own network.  That's the whole point of this.  The SMC network is one network, the 891 is a second network completely, using the SMC as its WAN link.

As I stated before, I am using the 891 in this situation to learn how to set it up to function like an ASA.  I want it to be its own device with its own network attached to it.  Being able to communicate between the two networks isn't too terribly important, but hey, if I can get that working to, all the better.

As far as I can tell, the issue is with the SMC.  I can ping 192.168.150.1 from 10.10.10.100.  My question is, why can I not ping 8.8.8.8?  Is it stopping at the SMC going out, or is there some kind of NATing issue that stops it from coming back in?

I do have experience working with routers, so I do know what I'm doing, and everything on the 891 looks fine.  All I really want to know is if the SMCD3GN will allow me to do what I want or not.  I called Rogers, and that was an entertaining experience.  I was told to call hthe Rogers Tech Experts line, for a fee.  :smileytongue:  That's not happening.
