That 2:56:14 time (assuming this is UTC?) - does it match up with a connection blip?
Can you position yourself so you can watch the modem's lights when the blips happen?
Frankly, I would be leaning towards the view that there is a signal/network problem, not something wrong with your hardware/software/etc on your machine. Unfortunately, the HFC network is of such complexity that it's... not uncommon... for a particular piece of hardware on a street near you to get moody.
Is this a DPC3815? Bridged or router mode? Wired or wireless to your machine?
