Actually a better analogy then your hotel analogy is this:
There is a toll road from point A to point B is supposed to be 24 lanes wide and you decide to take this road and pay the toll. But 16 of the lanes are blocked by construction. The good thing is that there is so little traffic on the remaining 8 lanes that you can drive as fast as you want and you are saving 1/3 the price of the toll. Are you being ripped off?
