Hello,
I just had my internet hooked up today with the CGN2-ROG modem. My computer is connected directly to it through ethernet, everything seems to be fine (speeds are good) except that every 2 to 50 minutes I won't be able to access web pages for 2-10 minutes. Every new connection seems to time out.
The strange thing is that my IRC client stays connected, I can send and receieve messages just fine, and Steam stays online, I can still talk to people there too. If I try to navigate to a website with my browser it times out. If I go to ping a website such as google, I get:
Pinging www.google.com [74.125.226.114] with 32 bytes of data: Request timed out.
This tells me that DNS is working (I think?) since it was able to resolve www.google.com to 74.125.226.114. Now just in-case, I tried changing the DNS to Google's (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) on my computer, the modem and my computer, and just the modem to see if it made a difference. In every case it made no difference, everything was timing out still.
Another thing I tried was disabling the firewall on the modem, but unfortunately it didn't make a difference as well. I also tried putting it in bridge mode, and again, it didn't make a difference.
When it is having the disconnected issue, I tried pinging google from the modem control panel, and that still worked. So somewhere along the line from the modem to my computer, it stops working. I've been using this computer as my main computer for the past 3 years and I haven't had any problems like this on the numerous networks I've used.
So I'm fresh out of ideas. I'm not sure if this is the right place to be posting this, but hopefully I can get it resolved.
Thank you
