Yayyyyy finally a solution for my SIP/Voip Softphone and CGN3!!
To be specific, do the following if you DO NOT want to expose the entire ip in your CGN3 'DMZ'. I'm not a big fan of placing a ip address in a DMZ. This -theoretically- exposes the entire device to the internet.
Just as previous poster mentions creating 2 entries in 'Port Forwarding' section did the trick for me.
I'm no SIP developer but i'm guessing the port 5060 is to establish the connection to SIP server. Ports:10000-20000 is probably the client session for the phone call (ie. Audio)? maybe a SIP expert could chime in here...
Remember, these port settings are specific to each VoIP provider. I'm using a Toronto-based hosted-PBX provider. NOT Vonage
They happen to use a 'Asterisk' flavour of SIP Server...which also happens to be similar ports as Vonage...voila.
Port Forwarding rules
Application Name Public Private Protocol Local IP
Address
SIP 5060~5060 5060~5060 TCP/UDP ip address of
'SoftPhone'
/SIP/Voip
phone goes here;
for example:
192.168.0.99
SIP2 10000~20000 10000~20000 TCP/UDP ip address of
'SoftPhone'
/SIP/Voip
phone goes here;
same as above
