Re: Keep needing to reboot CGN3

this sounds pretty accurate based on everything in this thread.....

anyway I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread.....I now have a decision to make.....

I don't have the CGN3 yet but had just called Rogers today to go over my bill etc....I have the 150/10  Ultimate with 250gb cap.

long story short I switched to the 'new' ultimate 250 / 20 1TB today ( when they told me it was available in my area, web site said it wasn't)  but was told that there is no unlimited option for this tier.   I thought I had unlimited with my existing and had specifically called and asked about that before...today I was told I never had it?

anyway I complained about the rental and purchase cost of the modem and wanted assurnace that I could put it in bridge mode before switcing, she assured me I could and then double checked for me. She also smartly suggested that instead of buying now, pick it up as a rental and then call them saying I want to buy it  IF/when I am satisfied it meets my needs....I was planning on going to Rogers store to pick one up earlier this evening but decided to check the forums first.....I was already leery of having issues making the switch but now that I read this thread I need to think about this for another day or two......thinking I should stick with my SMCD3GN and call back again to ensure I have unlimited in place....somehow I think they will still want to charge me $1/ per GB of overage this month,(!@#@$^),,need to sort this out in the next day or two and I really don't like calling them.....phone call with them today was 2 hours long....(reviewed and changed some things)

I really want to get the higher speeds and 1TB cap sure sounds nice......would prefer unlimited......working from home I don't really want to take a chance of having to do a daily reboot or during important times.

One question I had was why my upload speed is only 2 Mbps instead of higher....is it due having the SMCD3GN?  Rogers told me I needed the new modem to get the higher upload speed after I initially suggested that might be the reason...My download speed is consistently in the 100 - 130Mbps range.   They also tried to tell me that the 150 package never had 10Mbps up....I gave up trying to argue thinking the new 'advanced' CGN3 would solve everything.....d'oh

sorry for the rambling rant and thanks again for everyone's efforts, probably saved me some short term grief. Glad to know I am not the only one to suffer from their 'customer service' .
