Re: :: Rogers Hitron CGN3 - NEW FIRMWARE - 4.2.4.3 ::

Hi LYuan,

  I do already have plans to purchase a router with a gigabit WAN interface - thanks.

What puzzles me about this is that the prior to purchasing the CGN3, i had an SMC D3 modem in bridge mode connected to the exact same E1200 router, with the exact same configuration, and i was able to pull 92-96Mbps consistently. I even obtained the same IP as the old modem with the new modem.

I upgraded the old modem because my family kept going over the 250GB limit, and i realized that we were entitled to the new (Oct 2013) Ultimate 1TB package for the amount that we pay each month. I was told by Rogers Customer Support that i needed to upgrade my modem to use the new ultimate package.

Another observation:

I plugged in 2 cables from the RV016 to the CGN3 as a test, and it obtained two public IP addresses from two separate gateways. With load balancing enabled (which i thought could have been a temp workaround), i performed a speed test, and although data was flowing out to each gateway simultaneously, the same 40Mbps limitation was observed when i combined the results of the two tests.

To further this test, i released one WAN on the RV016, waited 20 minutes, and then plugged my laptop in. Running speed tests simultaneously resulted in 40Mbps through the RV016, and about 285Mbps to the laptop.

So 2x 100mbps WAN on the RV016 maxed out at 40Mbps combined, and 1x 100mbps WAN rv016 + 1Gbps laptop maxed out at 320Mbps.

A speed test in gateway mode with the laptop renders the same 320Mbps; via 20 downstream channels, 3 up if my memory serves me right.

Its a mind boggler, but the only common denominator between the E1200 and the RV016 is the 100Mbps link.
