For your devices, the performance that you are experiencing is within expected values. Those devices that you mentioned have 100Mbps WAN interfaces. 100-BaseT networks generally have an effective transfer speed of about 25-30mbps after protocol overhead and such. Couple that with the fact that your WAN to LAN speeds for these devices are less than 100mbps; resulting in the performance that you are seeing.
When you plug your computer in, your now interfacing with your modem at 1Gbps, basically eliminating the bottleneck that was there when you were using your routers.
The solution would be to purchase a router that has gigabit interfaces.
