To request the trial firmware follow this link
1. Fill in the title with Rocket Modem Trial Firmware Request.
2. In the text area, include your request, including the modem MAC address and Serial number. The modem MAC address and serial number can be found on the sticker at the back of the modem, or copied from the data located in the Status page of the modem when you are logged into the modem.
Send that info to
When you're logged into the forum, watch for a number overlaying your avatar at the upper right hand corner. Follow the avatar link down to the message inbox to acknowledge the waiver that is required for the trial firmware. When that is acknowledged, you should see the firmware loaded later today or tomorrow. When you know that the firmware has been loaded, reboot or restart the modem. Don't run a factory reset as that will return the modem back to the latest production firmware version for that modem.
Random IPv4 connectivity on CODA-4582U
Router is not consistent, some PCs work, other don't ( no IPv4 connectivity). Called support they reset ip forwarding but still have problems. Currently all phones on wifi works but none of my windows (7 or 10) work.
SW ver is 2.0.10.28T2
Openvpn throttled
i have openvpn with two vpn providers. My problems started during this spring, downloads started to become slower and slower then i said maybe its my vpn provider who is throttling me so i went with PIA as they are known not to throttle and are very fast. throttling still occurs. When i do a speed test i sometimes get over 200mbs but the problem happens immediatelly after the speed test when i do the second or third or when i download or browse the internet, my speeds immediately drop to 10-20mbs in speed tests but in actual world usage its between 5-10mbs. I thought the crtc banned throttling so why am i being throttled? Yes i am experienced a bit and i have tried openvpn through modem with firewall enabled through modem without firewall (bridge) and computer connected directly to it and openvpn on and also through my router that supports openvpn. Please can someone answer why this is happening? I dont even bother calling tech support because they will immediatelly say its my vpn provider plus i recently switched from 250mbs to 1gbps hoping that the vpn issue disapears.it didnt.
I dont think its throttling in my opinion.
I also have PIA, and when in use, the speed tests are much slower than compared to the connection just on its own.
BUT.. thats also to possibly be expected.
Take a comparison of speed tests on speedtest.net.
Do your standard speedtest of a LOCAL one.
Now take one on a different providers local.
Start choosing locations father away.
All of the sudden your speed starts dropping more and more you move away, or even just to a different provider locally.
As you do these, the routing changes.. and potentially takes much longer/more hops for the data to travel.
And the speed slowing down.
Going through a VPN.. could be increasing the distance/number of hops for the speed tests.
IE: If your choosing LOCAL speed test.. but using the VPN.. it could be going from here.. to a location much father away, then back, etc.
That seems to have made it work. Thanks.
Hi,
Does anyone know if the the latest CODA-4582 modems being given to techs for modem swaps have no black dots on the back? A tech came by on Monday and swore up and down that the modem he was swapping is newer than the one I had with one black dot on the back. This new one had no black dots on the back.
I know there were modems with two black dots. I 'm not sure what the second black dot meant. I know the first black dot meant the modem had shielding in it to protect from interference.
TIA
Modem CODA, firmware 32.
Testing MoCA. MoCA has now firmware 20. Before was 11 and I could connect my adaptor but speeds was
very slow 5M. Adaptor was on and of. After installing PoE ( point of entrance) MoCA filter connection was stady
only speed to slow to watch movie from my NAS HD. Now in this new firmware (20) I got connection for few minutes, check speeds was good 11M, but I lost coax connection. Try reboot my adaptor- nothing,
try disable and enable MoCA in the modem -nothing only reboot CODA modem helped to get connection
for few minutes and again lost connection. I believe MoCA in the modem after few minutes frizzes up.
Woke up this morning and my computer had no internet connection. Checked the back of the CODA-4582 modem and the lights were off on port 4. I tried:
1) Re-seating cable
2) Plugging the cable for my NAS into port 4 instead
3) checking the Advanced section of the modem admin to confirm port is enabled (admin indicates it is "Unlinked")
4) rebooting the modem
I am on 2.0.10.28T2.
Anyone know of any way to fix this? Thanks.
Well,
# iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -p tcp --dport 22 -j REDIRECT --to-port 2222
works well, but I really don't understand why I can't just forward the default port...

How was it fixed?
unplug for 2 minute then plug it back in. If that doesn't work you can try a factory reset, but you will have to set everything back up, including Wifi and passwords.
To factory reset you need to press the reset button on the back of the modem down for 15 seconds then release, the modem will reboot.

I need help.😓 i been trying to change our routers password. But every time i put the old password it says incorrect current password. I tried to factiry reset it thru site and the device itself but same error. Please help. Thanks in advance. Any help would be appreciated.
The user name is: cusadmin
password is your Wifi password, if you cannot remember your WiFi password then you can do a factory reset then set everything up from scratch. When you do a factory reset you have to go through the set up process, whatever password you set for the WiFi will also be the password to log in to the modem. Lastly you can call Rogers tech support and ask them to change the password if you are authorized on the account.

On the back of the modem can you post the model number, does it say CODA 4582U? or when you log in to the modem it should show the model number, CODA 4582U is newer than the CODA 4582.
Either way if it really bothers you, you can goto the Rogers store and swap the modem.

Considering the steps you already tried there is only two options left, factory reset, or swap the modem at your local Rogers store. Since you tried you NAS with a different cable that rules out a device or cable issue.

Thank you. I have the U version.
Hardware Version | 1A |
Any differences between this and the 4582?
At least I'm not getting 0.02 Mbps 1hr after rebooting anymore with the new modem.

U is the newer "unbranded" version, it just means it doesn't have the Rogers Logo on the hardware anymore.
